RECIPE INGREDIENTS
» For Chocolate Strawberry Hearts
- 8-9 large strawberries (washed and completely dried)
- 100 grams dark or milk chocolate
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
- Edible silver/golden dust for decoration (optional)
RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS
» Prep the Strawberries
- Using a sharp knife, trim each strawberry into a heart shape. To shape, place the strawberry on a cutting board. Starting at the stem, carefully cut a V-shaped notch into the top. This removes a small wedge of the strawberry and gives it a cute heart-like appearance. Feel free to adjust the cut to suit your desired heart shape.
» Melt the Chocolate
- Place the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on medium power in 30-second bursts, stirring between each interval until the chocolate is smooth and fully melted.
- Then add the coconut oil to adjust the consistency and add shine, stirring until the chocolate is completely melted. Alternatively, you can use the double-boiling method to melt the chocolate. To do this, set a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water and stir continuously until the chocolate melts completely.
» Dip the Strawberries
- Insert a wooden toothpick into the bottom of each strawberry, then dip it into the melted chocolate, ensuring an even coating. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off before placing the strawberry on a parchment-lined tray. Repeat with all strawberry hearts.
» Chill & Decorate Strawberry Hearts:
- Chill the strawberries in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes until set. Alternatively, you can let the chocolate harden at room temperature- Once firm, remove them from the parchment paper. Your Chocolate Strawberry Hearts are ready. Enjoy them as they are, or for a fun and festive touch, brush them with edible silver or golden dust. Enjoy your elegant strawberry chocolate hearts immediately, or store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
RECIPE NOTES
- Make sure to use rinsed and dried strawberries for this recipe. Any moisture will cause the chocolate to slide off.
- Adding a little coconut oil to the melted chocolate gives the strawberries a glossy finish and smooth texture.
