RECIPE INGREDIENTS
» For Dal Chawal Paratha:
- 1 cup green gram, cooked (hari moong dal)
- 1 cup rice, cooked (chawal)
- 1 large-sized onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)
- 1 teaspoon ginger (adrak), grated
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder (lal mirch powder)
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder (haldi powder)
- 2 cups whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta)
- 2 medium-sized green chilies (hari mirch), chopped
- 2 teaspoons oil for dough
- A pinch of asafetida (hing)
- Salt to taste
- Water for kneading dough
» For Cooking Parathas:
- Oil/Ghee
RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS
» Making Dal Chawal Paratha Dough:
- Add wheat flour, chawal, dal, 2 teaspoons oil, salt, asafetida, cumin seeds, grated ginger, green chili, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, red chili powder to a large mixing bowl.
- Mix well. Knead into a soft dough, using enough water. Cover with a cling film and keep aside it for 30 minutes.
» Cooking Dal Chawal Paratha Dough:
- Divide the dough into 8 balls. Roll each ball to make a circle into 4 to 5 inch in diameter.
- Heat a pan and roast dough circle from one side and flip over to another side.
- Brush oil on both sides, and roast for few seconds again.
- Serve hot with any pickle, ketchup, or boondi raita. Enjoy!
RECIPE NOTES
- I have used leftover dal and rice for this recipe, but you can also use freshly cooked and cooked dal and chawal.
