RECIPE INGREDIENTS
» For Kala Chana Sprouts Chaat:
- 2 cups sprouted kala chana (black chickpeas)
- 3/4 cup cornflakes
- 1/2 cup red onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup tomato, chopped
- 1 tablespoon chaat masala powder
- salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon roasted cumin powder
- 4 tablespoons tamarind chutney (or more if needed)
- 4 tablespoons green coriander chutney (or more if needed)
- 2 green chilies, chopped, optional (my green chutney was really hot, so I didn?t add any green chilies)
- 1/4 cup strawberries, roughly chopped
- 2 tablespoons coriander leaves, chopped
» For Serving:
- 2-3 tablespoons cornflakes
- A few coriander leaves for garnishing
- Chaat masala for the sprinkle
- Red chili powder for the sprinkle
- 1/4 cup yogurt (use vegan yogurt for vegan version)
- 2 tablespoons tamarind chutney
- 2 tablespoons green coriander chutney
- 2 tablespoons onions, chopped
- 6-7 cherry tomatoes, sliced (you can also use regular tomatoes)
RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS
» For Kala Chana Sprouts Chaat:
- Steam or boil black chickpeas sprouts till they are almost cooked. Don?t overcook them, becasue we want their crunchy texture. If steaming, then let the sprouts cool completely. If boiling, then strain the cooked sprouts and let them cool completely.
- In a large mixing bowl add sprouted kala chana (black chickpeas).
- Next, add tomatoes, onions, strawberries, coriander leaves, corn flakes, chaat masala powder, roasted cumin powder, tamarind chutney, and green chutney.
- Toss well to combine.
- Take out chaat in individual bowls, and drizzle with yogurt.
- Top with tamarind chutney, green chutney, some corn flakes, onions, tomatoes.
- Sprinkle red chili powder, and chaat masala powder. Serve Sprouted Kala Chana Chaat immediately with some hot tea or coffee.
