RECIPE INGREDIENTS
» For Orange Ice Cream
- 1 orange, peeled and chopped
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 1 cup whipping cream, chilled
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- A few drops of orange extract, optional
- 1/4 teaspoon orange color, optional
RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS
» How to Make Orange Ice Cream
- Add the chilled heavy whipping cream (I used 30% fat) to a large mixing bowl. Whip until it forms stiff peaks.
- Now, add the sweetened condensed milk to the same mixing bowl. Beat on low speed until everything is well combined.
- Next, add the orange zest and the chopped or pureed oranges.
- Fold gently. Make sure not to mix too vigorously, or it will destroy all the fluffiness.
- Then, add a few drops of orange food coloring and orange extract and fold gently until combined.
- Transfer the orange ice cream mixture into a freezer-safe container or dish.
- Cover with cling film and freeze for at least 6 hours or overnight.
- Once frozen, thaw it for 10 minutes at room temperature.
- Scoop the ice cream into cups or cones.
- Decorate with chopped oranges and serve chilled.
RECIPE NOTES
- Instead of chopping, you can add the oranges to a blender or a food processor and blitz until smooth.
- To make it dairy-free, substitute whipping cream with coconut cream, and condensed milk with coconut sweetened condensed milk.
