RECIPE INGREDIENTS
» For Viral Flat Croissant
- 3 croissants
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- Melted chocolate for coating
- Sprinkles of your choice
- Parchment paper for rolling and roasting
RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS
» For making Viral Flat Croissant
- Place parchment paper on a flat surface, and flatten the croissant with a rolling pin to about 1/2 inch in thickness. Alternatively, you can press it down under heavy weight to smash it.
- Mix together butter and sugar until it is pale and fluffy. Spread the butter-sugar mixture on both sides of the flattened croissants.
- Heat a pan over medium-low heat. Once hot, place the buttered croissant on it. Lay a piece of parchment paper over the croissant and press down with a weighted pan, then place more weight on top. The weight will press the croissant and keep it flat, helping it to crisp up as the sugar caramelizes.
- Cook until the sugar has caramelized and the croissant is golden. Flip it and repeat on the other side.
- Place the croissant on a cooling rack, and let them cool for 5-7 minutes or until the sugar has hardened. In the meantime, melt your chocolate and coconut oil in the microwave for one minute. Spread half of the melted chocolate over the croissant, or as much as you want. Place them on parchment paper, decorate with sprinkles, and place in the fridge for the melted chocolate to firm up.
RECIPE NOTES
- If your croissant has hardened, microwave it for 10-15 seconds before flattening.
- Instead of cooking in a skillet, you can also use an oven for toasting the flat croissants.
