What are the possible variations to microwave mug brownie?

Oil:

I used flavorless neutral vegetable oil. I would recommend using any neutral vegetable oil. You can also use coconut oil or melted butter in this recipe. Just avoid using any type of olive oil, this is because olive oil has a strong flavor.

Milk:

I used regular milk in this recipe. But if you are planning to make it vegan, then use dairy-free milk. coconut milk or unsweetened almond milk taste good in this recipe.

Sweetener:

I used dark brown sugar because it enhances the taste of brownie. If you want you can also use light brown sugar or even white sugar can be added here.

Salt:

A pinch of salt balances the sweetness of this brownie and makes it taste more chocolatey. Adding salt is highly recommended. You can use sea salt rock salt or regular salt.

Filling:

I didn’t use any fillings for this brownie. If you want you can also use fillings like peanut butter or Nutella.

Nuts:

I added some walnuts to get a slightly nutty taste. If you don’t want to add walnuts then you can also add hazelnuts or almonds. You can also avoid nuts altogether.

Flavors:

I have used vanilla flavorings here, but you can also add almond extract. You can also add some instant coffee if you like coffee flavors. Adding some ground cinnamon with vanilla is also a great idea.

Toppings:

You can top it with any of your favorite ice creams. My favorites are chocolate hazelnut ice cream and vanilla ice cream. Whipped cream or heavy cream can also be used as a topping along with some berries and sauces like caramel or chocolate.

What are the tips, tricks, and variations to make a microwave brownie in a mug?

  1. This brownie cooking time may vary in different microwaves. So you may need to adjust the cooking time. Initially start with 1 minute 20 seconds, and then an additional 20-30 seconds or until it gets cooked. My 1000 watt microwave cooked this in 2 minutes.

  2. Cooking time in mug cakes also varies depending upon the width and depth of the mug.

  3. Let the brownie rest for a while before serving and adding toppings. If you eat brownies straight from the microwave, it would be too hot and it would melt the ice cream or whipped cream toppings quickly.

  4. You can have it without toppings. I like to serve mine with some whipped cream topping.

  5. It is advisable to eat brownies straight from the mug. It might not be able to hold the proper shape if you take it out of the mug.

  6. This mug brownie tastes best when eaten warm, it is fudgiest and dense when it is warm.

  7. Just mix the mixture properly, but don’t over-mix it.

  8. Don’t overcook the brownie or it will drain all the moisture and turn chewy.
