Ingredients

Date milk is prepared with some basic ingredients which are generally available in any kitchen. The ingredients you will require to make this Indian Date Milk are following:

  • Dates -  For making this milk you can use any type of your favorite dates. I personally like super soft and juicy dates. You can use date varieties such as Medina, Medjool, Dayari, or Mazafati dates.

  • Milk – For the best-tasting rich and creamy milk, I would recommend using whole, or full-fat milk. Nevertheless, if you are not comfortable using full-cream milk, then you can add semi-skimmed milk.

  • Flavorings – I have flavored this caramel-tasting milk with sweet scenting spices such as cinnamon powder and cardamom powder. You can also add other flavorings such as rose water or saffron.

  • Serving - To make it look more appealing and appetizing I like to sprinkle my dates milk with chopped pistachios and saffron strands. However, decorating milk is absolutely optional.

Storage

Date milk can be consumed fresh right after boiling, or you can also store it in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. To store, let the milk cool down completely, then transfer it to an air-tight bottle or a pitcher with a lid.

When you want to drink, add it to a saucepan and warm the milk in a stovetop pan, or add it to a microwave-safe cup and microwave for 1-2 minutes.
