Hello to this healthy happy Friday!
July is an official Holiday month, and most of the kids are at home for their summer holidays.
And with these summer holidays, comes their endless demands of creamy-greasy, and sweet food! Kids just love such stuff. And so does my 3-year old little one! Ouch, no exception there 😉
Yes, I know I have already told you earlier a lot many times that she is a fussy eater. But not when it comes to donuts, pizza, muffins, chocolate cake, fries, burger, etc. She just loves to munch on these! 🙂
July is her holiday month too. And this whole month she has been continuously demanding all these things. On some days I fulfilled her demands, but on other days I simply didn’t.
I know it’s a little too harsh on a 3-year old! But this is the way she would learn how life works in reality! Also, she would learn what’s good for her and what’s not.
But I don’t stop her from demanding such stuff, because I know she is not the only child who does this. Anyways, have you ever seen a miraculous kid who is just so fond of Salads? Hehe, at least I haven’t! 😉
Having said that, there is no harm in fulfilling the demands of kids, occasionally! And this month that ‘occasionally’ became quite often! 😉
But there’s another very interesting and ironic point here.
And the point is that it’s not only her, it’s me too who can’t resist these stunning delights.
“A child in me provokes the desire of eating wonderful sweet treats.”
Seriously, I have a weakness of eating all these foods mentioned above! I am a BIG foodie, and I can’t really stop myself from eating any of these.
I just can’t resist them, and many times I myself end up eating all those dishes I make for Little-A, along with her. 😉
I know I am an adult, and eating too much of greasy and sugary things are not good for me, and I need to make a calorie count for myself.
To help myself from this, I always remember this philosophy:
“The best way to clear the mess is not to create it in the first place.”
So I try to avoid making too much of treats for Little-A. That way I don’t get any chance to even taste these on a regular basis. But this idea of not making too many treats really doesn’t work out every time — as the child inside me doesn’t let me do that always! 🙂
So the result of this has been that in this month I ate all these sinful delicacies almost every other day. But whenever I ate them, my soul screamed out loud every time saying, “please don’t do that with me. What you are feeding me is not good for me.”
But a part of me did not listen to that, and it did what my tongue wanted to do! Really, this happens to me many times when I eat too much of greasy and sweet food.
And then I need to work REAL hard to burn these extra calories! And thankfully in the recent past, I did my best.
Now when you eat such food, then seriously a Detox becomes much needed. At this stage, a DETOX smoothie comes in. The good thing is that I adore green teas and DETOX foods as much as I adore greasy-sweet treats. Through this Detox at regular times, I managed myself from gaining any extra pounds! 😉
I know most of you also feel the same about the fact that we all need DETOX diet sometimes.
And I think this summer month is the time for me when I should consume lots and lots of detox food.
So finally, it is detox time. BUT this is my kind of detox time. And this includes my this year’s summer obsession ‘Watermelon’.
So I made ‘Green Tea Watermelon Detox smoothie’ to come out of this guilt of eating too much sweet treats.
Do you guys remember that I wrote about my watermelon obsession when I shared Watermelon Dip, Watermelon Salsa and Watermelon Lemonade last month? Well, this smoothie is the result of the same underlying obsession.
I am just in love with this smoothie. So this is kind of a delicious watermelon-y smoothie.
I love juices and smoothies. But I am not really one of those people who can have detox smoothies and juices for a week. I can do it occasionally, like once or twice a week! 😉
Having a Detox during a continuous week is way too much for me. Normally I would need something else to eat! I love fruits and veggies, but I seriously can’t live only on them for long. My body needs some other things too, in form of grains and nuts to energize myself!
And sometimes I also need cheat days! 😉
But that’s just me. And I seriously admire the dedication and willpower of those who can live on just-drinks for a week or more! They are doing just AWESOME. But I just can’t do that!
But when it comes to a delish smoothie it’s a different story. I can have smoothies for breakfasts or brunches for as long as possible! I just ADORE smoothies! I think I am born for these!
For this smoothie, I used a combo of green tea, watermelon, lemon, and honey. This smoothie is beyond YUM. I have already made it 5 times last month and 8 times this month. You know that I really needed detox this month.
I don’t think there is anything I should write about this smoothie. The name ‘Green Tea Watermelon Detox smoothie’ itself tells a good story about this red-pink beauty.
So cheers to this fresh and clean DETOX delicacy! Many people believe, including me that Green tea is a fat burner. So this smoothie might surely help you in burn fat, at the same time giving your metabolism a boost.
This smoothie is as nutrient-dense as watermelon itself, so full of vitamins and minerals.
You will just love this flavor combination if you love green tea and watermelon! 🙂
This is dairy-free, gluten-free, and sugar-free too if you skip honey! 🙂 Add maple syrup to make it VEGAN. This mighty super vibrant red smoothie tastes AWESOME.
