My Food Photography / Videography Gear
Food photography is an essential part of food blogging. Food photography and styling in itself is a work of art. I have been asked almost forever to write about the workflow of my food photography which I have been delaying for some reason.
But now I am here with some important and unmissable details of the main things which make my food photos look awesome.
If you love everything about food, then you surely want to click the bestest of the pictures which look appealing and appetizing. Every single photo should tell a story. And the photographer is the one who creates the story.
If you will design and follow your own unique style, each one of your photos would be your signature photo.
I won’t say that a good camera and all other helping gadgets alone can create the magic in your pictures or video. A good compositing, styling, lighting always plays an important role. I can surely say that a good tool drastically helps in achieving the desired results.
Taking well composed and lit food pictures is essential in growing and popularizing your food blog.
So, without any further delay, here are the details of the food photography and videography kit which I use on a daily basis:
Camera Body
I have been using Sony A7 Mark III and Nikon D7100, and I must say these are excellent cameras. I use primarily these cameras for all my food photography and videography. The best part about them is very many automatic focal points.
See it on Google Search
18-105mm lens
The thing I love most about this lens that it can focus correctly, and fast. Easy to remove and place on the camera body. It creates good sharp images and perfect for professional photos. Highly recommended zoom lens.
35mm prime lens
If you are serious about any kind of photography, you will need a prime lens. There are two choices for you, 50mm and 35mm. I opted for 35mm because it gives me an even wider view. This was my first prime lens, and it has been serving its purpose so well.
Perfect for low-light conditions. The images clicked with this lens come with edge-to-edge sharpness and beautiful colors. I could not be more pleased with this lens. Absolutely worth it.
Macro Filter Set
I really like using these filters with my prime lens, for really close-up effects.
Photography Studio Lighting Light Tent Kit
This is a great little photo studio for taking photos of small amount of food and other little things. This light box is a total hassle-free item and can be a saviour for you if you just do not know how to get your lighting right. I use it many times for smaller items.
Reflector
This reflector is the one which I have been using since the very first day I started my food photography. I use at least one of these whenever I am shooting photos of food. The 'Silver' one is my favorite as it really creates bright images.
The white one works as a wonderful diffuser.
Tripod – 1
This is the tripod I use for making my videos. I love it's multi-angle head. I have been using it for a long time and I have no issues with it. I must say it's quite durable too if you are using it well.
Tripod – 2
This is the second tripod I use especially while making videos. I love this because it is very lightweight and so easy to carry around.
Memory Card
I have some of these for use in my Nikon D7100, and have been using it for few years now. Nikon D7100 has two card slots, so I always keep both the slots filled with these cards. A fast card is preferred.
Because that way I don't have to stop taking pictures to wait for my memory card to catch up. 🙂
My Kitchen Gadgets
Knowing good food photography is a great thing. But making tasty and delicious food always comes first. It needs to be made with all the love possible. And sometimes this love gets greatly enhanced by the use of a proper kitchen gadget.
So, follow along for the gadgets I use, to make my food tasty and easy.

I use garlic in my meals on a regular basis and I have been using this garlic peeler for a long time. I must say it works like a charm. Squeezing and cleaning is super easy too.
Egg Slicer
This is the best egg slicer I have ever had. I not only cut eggs with it, but I also slice butter, mushroom, cheese, olive, strawberry, kiwi, avocado and many more fruits and veggies with this. Really handy.
Waffle Maker
This is a wonderful little waffle maker, and especially budget friendly. They make great waffles which are crispy from outside and tender from inside. Simple and easy to use.
Muffin Maker
This one is my favourite because it makes quick, easy and perfect muffins in just 10 minutes. The size if just perfect for a small family of three like mine.
Ice-Cream Maker
This ice-cream maker makes really smooth, creamy, rich, and delicious ice-creams, sorbets and froyo. This is not very noisy and easy to use and easy to clean.
Food Processor
This is a wonder machine if you work a lot in the kitchen like I do. As a cook I love all the kitchen tools, but if you ask about the ones I cannot live without, then this will surely rank amongst the highest. I should rather call it my best friend in the kitchen. 🙂
Hand Mixer
This is a great kitchen hand mixer. I love baking, and if you are someone who also likes baking, then you would surely know how important is a hand mixer’s role in your life. Definitely get one of these.
Juicer
I have been using this juicer for a long time and it juices everything really nice. No problems whatsoever so far. I generally make juice of beets, carrots, apples, and oranges. I have tried juicing almost everything, and this works great every single time.
If you usually avoid store-bought juice for your family due to extra loaded sugars and preservatives, or if you are just a fresh juice lover, then I would really recommend you to use this juicer.
Blender
This pretty guy here is just ahh-mazing. It works really smoothly as a simple home blender. So easy to hold for myself and my little one.

I do a lot of chopping and this chopper is really a lifesaver. I use it in my everyday kitchen and it makes dicing vegetables easy with just one firm push. Seeing perfectly equal pieces every time is a delight. 🙂
