Strawberry Salad Recipe Ingredients

This classic, colorful and delectable strawberry salad tastes incredibly good. You will need a few simple ingredients to make this extraordinary salad. Here is what you’ll need to make this best strawberry salad recipe:

  • Strawberries – As strawberry is the base of this salad recipe. The fresh, juicy and ripe berries are the best. You can also use a combination of berries to make this salad.

  • Cucumber – Some sliced cucumber is added for veggie goodness. I have used English cucumbers, you can also use Persian or any of your favorite cucumbers here.

  • Onions – A little bit of red onion adds pungency, color, savory flavor, and lovely crunch to this salad.

  • Greens – I have used a combination of romaine lettuce and arugula. You can also use fresh basil leaves here.

  • Cheese – I have used crumbled feta cheese to make this strawberry salad. It adds a creamy texture with rich, and briny flavors to this salad. You can swap it with goat cheese or mozzarella pearls.

  • Olives - To convert this salad into a typical Greek-style salad, I have added sliced olives. Black, green, or kalamata, all three types of olives work in this salad.

  • Nuts – I have topped the salad with toasted sliced almonds to add some crunch. You can also use pecans or walnuts here.

  • Dressing ingredients – I haven’t made a separate dressing for this salad. Just added everything to the salad bowl and tossed it with other ingredients. The dressing ingredients you will need are olive oil, lemon juice, and pepper (salt can also be used if needed).

For acidity, you can also swap lemon juice with balsamic or white vinegar.

Strawberry Salad Storage Suggestions

This salad becomes soggy after a couple of hours. So if you are preparing it for a make-ahead meal, then add all the chopped veggies to an air-tight container and refrigerate. Add the dressing ingredients and crumbled feta only when you are about the serve.

Tips & tricks to make the best strawberry salad

  1. Onions - If your red onions have a sharp taste, then soak them in iced water for 10 minutes before adding the salad. This would take away the strong and harsh aftertaste.

  2. Only dress the salad shortly before serving as it will start losing its crunchiness after adding dressing.

  3. You can store undressed salad for up to 2 days in the refrigerator when stored in an air-tight container.

  4. Oil - I have used extra virgin olive oil for tossing salad. You can also use olive oil here.

  5. Dried herbs - You can add dried oregano or dried parsley if you want to add more seasoning to this strawberry salad.

  6. Tomato - You can also add grape tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, Roma tomatoes, or regular tomatoes to this salad recipe.

  7. Spinach strawberry salad - Swap arugula and lettuce with spinach to make Strawberry spinach salad.
