  1. I have used plain boiled kidney beans for these tikkis, but you can also use canned kidney beans for this recipe.

  2. I used bread slices for making tikkis, but you can replace them with breadcrumbs.

  3. I shallow fried these tikkis, but you also can deep-fry. However, if you don’t like fried food, then feel free to bake them.

  4. I have added whole grain bread, but feel free to add any other bread of your choice.

Preheat oven to 150°C/300°F.

Add crushed bread, cooked rajma, mashed potato, chopped onions, chopped green chilies, powdered bread slices, ginger-garlic paste, salt, cumin seeds, red chili powder, garam masala powder, chaat masala, amchur powder, and chopped coriander leaves to a large mixing bowl.

Mix everything to combine well. Divide this mixture into 6-7 portions.

Shape each portion into small rounds balls, and flatten them to make Tikki. Roll the Tikkis in corn flour.

Heat 4 tablespoons oil in a pan lightly fry tikkis from both sides. Remove fried tikkis from and drain onto an absorbent paper.

Arrange Rajma tikkis on a lined baking tray in oven 8-10 minutes, or until they are golden and cooked through. Remove Rajma Tikki from the oven. Serve these Rajma Tikkis hot with any of your favorite chutneys and drinks.

INGREDIENTS

For Rajma Tikki:
  • 1 cup kidney beans (rajma), cooked
  • 1 large potato, peeled boiled, and mashed
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 bread slices, finely powdered (i have used whole grain bread here)
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • salt as per taste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala
  • 1 teaspoon dried mango powder (amchur powder)
  • 2 tablespoons coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch or rice flour
  • 4-5 tablespoons cooking oil

INSTRUCTIONS:
