Ingredients

  • Bread: I used ciabatta for making this garlic bread. But you can also use baguette or any other Italian bread of your choice. They work best for a crispy texture with a soft center.

  • Butter: You will need softened unsalted butter for making a rich and creamy garlic butter spread.

  • Garlic: Fresh garlic cloves are used for making garlic confit. It adds a mellow flavor to this bread. You can also use fresh minced garlic to infuse it with bold, aromatic flavors.

  • Parsley: Some freshly chopped parsley is added for freshness and a beautiful green color to the garlic butter mixture.

  • Salt: I used sea salt to enhance the flavors and balance the richness of butter. You can use any salt of your choice.

  • Red Pepper Flakes: I used red pepper flakes to add heat, which complements the pungency of garlic. You can also use ground black pepper for mild heat.

  • Melted Grated Cheddar (Optional): It adds a rich, cheesy layer for extra indulgence and flavor.

  • Olive Oil (Optional): It is used for making garlic confit.

Variations

Cheese-Free Garlic Bread

If you don’t like to add cheese, you can surely make it without adding cheese. Simply skip the mozzarella and cheddar and air fry for 4-5 minutes or until golden and crispy. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella or extra parmesan before air frying.

Chili Garlic Bread

To make chili garlic bread, add some freshly chopped green chilies or red chilies to the butter. This is a perfect recipe if you like heat.

Herb Garlic Bread

For this version, use a mix of dried oregano, dried thyme, dried parsley, and dried rosemary for extra flavor.

Vegan Garlic Bread

To make the vegan version of this bread, swap butter with dairy-free butter and replace cheese with plant-based cheese.

Serving Suggestions

This Air Fryer Garlic Bread can be served as a snack on its own, or with a cheese dip or any ketchup of your choice. It can also be enjoyed as a side with spinach pasta, pasta aglio e olio, Chilli Cheese Toast or with soups such as hot and sour soup or spinach soup.

For an indulgent brunch, it can be served with salads for a crunchy side.

Storage Suggestions

You can store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. To serve, reheat it in an air fryer at 200°C (400°F) for 2-3 minutes to regain the crispiness.

Freezing: For a longer shelf life, you can freeze assembled garlic bread before air frying. Wrap each piece with plastic wrap and freeze the garlic bread for up to 2 months. Simply air fry directly from frozen at 200°C (400°F) for 8-9 minutes or until golden and crispy.

1. Garlic: To make garlic confit, use fresh garlic cloves for the best flavor.

2. Quicker Version: If you don’t have much time, cook the garlic cloves with olive oil on low heat in a pan.

3. Minced Garlic: If you don’t want to make garlic confit, simply swap it with minced garlic. It will give a stronger garlic taste.
