Ingredients

  • Avocados - They are the star of this recipe. To get the silky smooth and creamy texture, make sure you are using ripe avocados.

  • Cilantro - A handful of fresh coriander leaves, or cilantro, is added for freshness, color, and herby taste.

  • Garlic & Garlic - Chopped ginger and garlic cloves are added for pungency, warmth, and spice.

  • Green Chilies - They add heat to this chutney. You can use them according to your spice tolerance.

  • Cumin Seeds - They add an earthy and nutty flavor to this chutney.

  • Ice Cubes - They help maintain the color of this chutney while aiding in blending it smoothly and keeping it cool.

  • Lemon Juice - Fresh lemon juice gives it a zesty twist and also prevents the chutney from oxidizing.

  • Salt to Taste - It is added to bring out all the flavors. I have used pink rock salt here, but you can use any salt of your choice.

  • Optional Ingredients: Cherry tomatoes, almond flakes, and red pepper flakes for garnishing.

How to Make Avocado Chutney

Making this chutney is very simple.

  • Just slice and pit the avocados.  Add the avocado flesh to a blender or a food processor, along with all the other ingredients and blend until smooth.

  • Transfer the chutney into a serving bowl. Your avocado chutney is ready. Garnish with halved cherry tomatoes, almond flakes, and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for an extra kick and enjoy it with your favorite snack.

Serving Suggestions

Just like any other chutney, this Avocado Chutney is also incredibly versatile.

  • Serve it as a dip: It can be used as a dip for air fryer kale chips, potato chips, fries, potato wedges, crackers, or raw veggies.

  • Use it as a spread: Or just spread it on your cracker, toast as an excellent replacement for butter or cream cheese. You can also spread it on a tortilla for making a tortilla wrap.

  • As a side: Serve it as a side dish with green paratha, a sandwich, or with some paneer pulao and maa ki dal.

  • Pair it with grilled meats: You can serve this with chicken tikka, grilled fish, or grilled pork.

Storage Tips

This Avocado Chutney tastes best when enjoyed fresh. If you have leftovers, you can store them in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.

To store, place plastic wrap directly on the surface of the chutney before covering. This step helps preserve the color and freshness. Make sure to give it a mix before serving

Anu’s Tips & Tricks to Make the Best Avocado Chutney

  1. Extra Heat: I have used mildly hot green chilies here. To make it spicier, you can use hot green chilies.

  2. No Heat: If you are making it for kids, make sure to omit the green chilies from this recipe.

  3. Creamy: To make it extra creamy and protein-rich, you can add a dollop of chilled Greek yogurt to this chutney.

  4. Avocado Raita: You can transform this chutney into raita by mixing 2-3 tablespoons of avocado chutney with 1.5 cups of chilled whisked yogurt, fresh cilantro, and a dash of roasted cumin powder.

  5. Lime Juice: I have used fresh lemon juice here, but you can also use lime juice. Store-bought lemon or lime juice can also be used here.

  6. Garnishing: I have garnished this chutney with cherry tomatoes, almond flakes, and red pepper flakes, but garnishing this chutney is totally optional. You can serve it as it is and it will be super delicious.

  7. Extra Zing: For an extra zesty touch, you can top it with some lemon zest.
