What is Lassi?
Lassi is a popular drink from India, traditionally made with yogurt, water, cardamom, and sometimes fruit. It is a creamy, chilled, and tangy drink perfect for cooling down on a hot day. There are different types of lassis, including salty and sweet versions.
Sweet lassis are made with just yogurt, water, ice, sugar, and cardamom. The sweet version of lassi also includes fruits and berries.

Ingredients
-
Blueberries: I have used fresh blueberries in this recipe, but you can also use frozen ones. They work equally well. I use fresh ones in the summer when there is an abundance of berries and frozen ones during other times of the year. Just remember that using frozen blueberries can make your lassi even cooler, so avoid using ice cubes.
-
Plain Yogurt: It is the main ingredient for a lassi recipe. Thick and creamy yogurt makes the best-tasting lassi.
-
Sweetener: I have added sugar as in the traditional lassi recipe. But you can also use other sweeteners such as honey, agave nectar, or maple syrup. Sometimes, the sweetness of the blueberries might already be enough, so taste as you go.
-
Liquid: You can either use chilled milk for a creamy texture or simply use water for a lighter version. I have used 1/2 cup of liquid, but you can adjust the amount for your preferred thickness.
-
Ice Cubes (optional): Adding ice cubes gives this lassi a thick texture while making it chilled.
-
Flavoring: I have added ground cardamom, as in the traditional version of lassi, and also a dash of rose water for a delicate floral aroma. Adding rose water is optional.
-
Garnishing (optional): I have garnished this lassi with dried rose petals and chopped pistachios. You can garnish it any way you like.
How to Make Blueberry Lassi
Making blueberry lassi is very easy and simple. Just add all the ingredients to a blender and blend until everything is smooth and creamy.
That’s it. Your blueberry lassi is ready, pour it into glasses, garnish with rose petals and pistachios and enjoy it chilled.
You can also serve it as a snack along with snacks like Dahi Puri, Avocado Chaat, Samosa, Aloo Pakora, and Kurkuri Bhindi.
Variations
Vegan Blueberry Lassi
Use vegan yogurt alternatives such as unsweetened coconut yogurt or soy yogurt to make a vegan version of this lassi.

Tips for the Best Blueberry Lassi
-
Ingredients: Use chilled yogurt and blueberries for making this lassi, as chilled ingredients yield the best results. Keep your yogurt and blueberries in the fridge until you’re ready to blend.
-
Adjust Sweetness: You can adjust the amount of sweetener depending on the sweetness of the blueberries and your taste preference. Taste your lassi after blending and add more sugar if you like it sweeter.
-
Storage: If you have leftover lassi, keep it in the fridge and drink it within 12 hours for the best taste. Make sure to give it a good shake before consuming.
-
Frozen Blueberries: Frozen blueberries make the lassi colder without the addition of ice. If you are using frozen blueberries, there’s no need to thaw them; they will help make your lassi cold.
-
Yogurt: Use thick and creamy yogurt as it gives your lassi a creamy base.
-
Milk Options: If you are using milk, you can choose any type you like: regular, almond, oat, soy, etc.
