Ingredients
For the chocolate
- Dark or milk chocolate: For making a smooth, rich chocolate base. I have used dark chocolate for this recipe, but milk chocolate can also be used.
For the kunafa filling
- Kataifi: Shredded phyllo dough or kataifi is used to make the kunafa layer of this chocolate. Kataifi gives the chocolate its crispy, crunchy texture and is key to the authentic feel of this kunafa-style dessert.
- Unsalted butter: Used for toasting kataifi. The butter adds a rich, creamy taste to the filling while helping it bind together.
- White chocolate (optional): Used for the signature decorative splashes on the bar.
- Food coloring (optional): Used just for visual appeal. I have used orange food color for a fun pop of decoration, but you can use any other color of your choice. It gives a nice contrast to the white chocolate.
- Pistachio butter: Pistachio paste or butter is one of the main ingredients in this recipe. It is added to the filling to give it a nutty richness and a beautiful green hue. Both homemade and store-bought pistachio butter can be used.
- Tahini: Added for a smooth texture and earthy flavors to balance the richness of the pistachio butter.

Variations
Nut Butter Alternatives
The viral recipe uses pistachio butter, but if you don’t like pistachios or are allergic, you can swap it with hazelnut butter, almond butter, or cashew butter instead.
Flavored Dubai Chocolate
Feel free to experiment with different chocolate flavors. Instead of regular dark chocolate, you can use flavored chocolates like raspberry white chocolate, hazelnut milk chocolate, orange-infused dark chocolate, or mint chocolate.
Vegan Version
To make this vegan, use dairy-free chocolate and a vegan butter substitute.

They also make a lovely gift for friends and family. Simply wrap the bars in beautiful wrapping paper for a personalized touch or pack them in a cute box.
Storage Suggestions
These chocolate bars stay fresh for up to one week when stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
For longer storage, you can freeze these bars for up to three months. To freeze, wrap each bar in wax paper or plastic wrap and freeze. Thaw them overnight in the fridge or let them come to room temperature before serving.

Tips & Tricks to make the best Dabai Viral Chocolate
- Tempering: For a shiny finish, you can temper the chocolate. This not only adds a glossy touch but also prevents it from melting too easily at room temperature.
- Decoration: For a fun, signature look, drizzle colored chocolate splashes onto the mold before pouring in the chocolate. This step is optional.
- Chilling: When making these Dubai chocolate bars, let each layer of chocolate set properly in the fridge before adding the next. This ensures the chocolate bars stay firm and hold their shape when cut.
- Mold: I used a chocolate bar mold, but you can also make this chocolate without any mold. This recipe works perfectly in a baking pan.
- Sphere Mold: I also used a sphere ice mold to create a playful shape. You can use any other silicone mold of your choice.
Viral Dubai Chocolate (Step-by-step photo instructions)
Melt chocolate
- Add dark chocolate to a microwave-safe bowl and melt it in a microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between. Alternatively, melt the dark chocolate using a double boiler.
- Also melt the white chocolate in a double boiler or a microwave-safe bowl. Take out about 1.5 tablespoons of white chocolate into a small bowl and add a few drops of orange food coloring to achieve the desired hue. Keep them aside.

Make the decoration (optional)
- The decoration bar is totally optional; it is just to give it the signature look of the viral Dubai chocolate bar. Using a small spoon, splash white chocolate and the colored chocolate into the bottom of the chocolate molds or a baking dish lined with parchment paper. Place it in the refrigerator and chill for about 10 minutes until set.
- I am also using a sphere ice cube mold to give this chocolate a fun look. Apply a similar white chocolate and orange chocolate layer at the bottom of the sphere ice cube mold and chill for 10 minutes. Pour a thin layer of melted dark chocolate into the molds, spreading it evenly with the help of a brush. Place the molds in the refrigerator to set for about 15 minutes or until set.

Prepare the filling
- Chop 140 grams of katifi into 1-inch pieces. Set it aside. Heat 3 tablespoons of butter in a medium frying pan over medium heat.
- Once melted, add the kataifi and toast for 7–8 minutes or until the kataifi turns golden brown and crispy. Keep stirring constantly to avoid burning.
- Once done, transfer the roasted kataifi to a mixing bowl. Add the pistachio paste and tahini and mix until well combined. The filling is ready. Set it aside to cool.

Assemble Dubai Chocolate Bar
- Pour a thin layer of melted dark chocolate into the molds, spreading it evenly with the help of a brush. Place the molds in the refrigerator to set for about 15 minutes or until set.
- Once the dark chocolate layer has set, spread the pistachio filling evenly over it. I am using a pestle to flatten and press it down gently. Once filled, chill the molds for 15 minutes.
- Pour the melted chocolate over the kataifi layer, spreading it evenly. Make sure that all the edges are covered with dark chocolate. Place it in the refrigerator and chill for at least 1 hour or until fully set.
- Once set, remove the bars gently from the mold. Your Dubai Chocolate is ready. Break and enjoy the crunchy, rich, buttery filling.
